The Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait stated on Sunday that the government plans to improve the wages for state employees and pensioners in 2024.
This move comes in line with initiatives to improve the citizens’ living conditions and alleviate their financial burdens, according to the statement.
The government has already increased the combined income of state employees and pensioners in 2023 through two wage improvement packages, Maait added.
Moreover, earlier in 2023, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi instructed the government to increase the minimum wage to 4,000 Egyptian pounds from 3,000 pounds a month for the sixth-category public sector workers.
